Cost of Marlins

Team Operating Costs

Every swimmer will need to register with both the Marlins/USA Swimming and CSI (Colorado Swimming, Inc.)
  • For the 2010 season, CSI charges an annual fee of $56. When you register before the end of 2009, your coverage will extend until 12/2010.

  • Effective 12/2009, the Marlins charges a monthly fee which varies depending on what team with which you swim.

    $26.25 monthly for The Zoomers
    $37.50 monthly for Bronze
    $43.54 monthly for Silver
    $51.25 monthly for Seniors

  • In addition, swimmers must pay to swim at the pool. Whether you chose to pay by the day, purchase a punch card, or purchase a membership, swimmers must pay for use of the pool. We recommend a family pass or a punch pass- it will save you money!

BILLING CHANGE (effective 11/2009)

Why? Along with the new system, we will also be changing the way we bill for dues. The current system is very clunky and work intensive for our volunteer treasurer. All of our swim groups have times during the year when they are not in the water. Some groups have longer breaks than others. Putting these billing changes in on a monthly basis is very time consuming (half dues here, full dues there). So, we decided to change the way we figure out the bills. It’s a little tricky to explain – so please bear with me.

Here’s what we did: As you see above, we had to raise our dues this year. So the first thing we did was up the monthly dues for each group. Then we figured out what months each group had either no dues or reduced dues due to spring break, Christmas, etc. Next, we added up the totals for each group and came up with a yearly cost. Lastly, we divided this total by 12 to come up with
a monthly total. This is what we will be basing our billing on from now on. We will no longer say it costs so much per month, but rather so much per year.

What does this mean for you? Well, using our new system, you will have the ability to pay for the whole year in advance or to pay on a monthly basis. If you choose to pay for the whole year up front, you will receive a 10% discount. However, if you do pay for the whole year, please be aware that there will be no refunding of dues if you decide to take some time off. If you pay monthly, you will be paying a set amount each month, even on months when you aren’t swimming. You will have the chance to choose which way you want to pay when you register each year.

Dues will still be due in advance (for example - dues for December are due by Dec.1st). Meets will show up on your invoices and do not have to be paid for in advance.

What about the time off for other sports? You can still take up to two months off per year for other sports. We are changing the policy a little from what it has been. You need to notify the board in writing of the time you are planning to take off. We will then credit your account for those months. We will no longer be offering half dues for swimmers who come once a week. This has proved to be an accounting nightmare. ASKING FOR YOUR PATIENCE
